Kent brand was first marketed in the year 1952. This cigarette brand is produced and distributed by the world's second largest tobacco products manufacturer, British American Tobacco Company. Kent is a worldwide famous brand known for its rich cigarette which has a strong buzz and is also very affordable. The brand owes its name to Mr. Herbert Kent, a former executive at Lorillard Tobacco Company. What is so special about Kent Cigarettes? Kent is special because of its unique filter. It differs from other brands in this respect. Kent uses special charcoal filter which has activated carbon in it. In the earlier versions of this brand, the company used crocidolite, which is a form of asbestos. After the 1950 Readers Digest report on cancer came out there were sweeping changes made by all major cigarette brands. Kent introduced a new version of their cigarettes named "New Kents" which had a Micronite filter, this time asbestos-free.

Largely due to the new filter and also due to the many promotional campaigns undertaken by this brand, they became the best selling cigarette brand from 1966 to 1972 in the United States. One of their most influential advertisement slogans was, "Kent tastes good like a real cigarette should." Even today this brand is still popular and it is ranked number sixth on the most popular cigarette brands list in the United States and was ranked the fourth most sought brand worldwide.

This brand also offers cigarettes in different flavors. The most popular varieties are Kent lights, Kent full flavored, Kent Select lights, Kent Selects, Slims and Super Slims and many more varieties. But there are three variants that have an edge over the others they are Kent Lights cigarettes, Kent Super Lights cigarettes and Kent Premium Lights cigarettes.
